How SRO Works

Overview

Precision IT's Secure Remote Office (SRO) system is based upon the widely used Cloud computing model in place throughout the IT industry, but with a full set of features designed to be a partial or complete replacement for the traditional office IT system.
  • Hosted Microsoft Terminal Services environment.

  • Data, services and equipment hosted within secure data-centre environment.

  • Software licensing included within service.

  • Access via the internet or dedicated Precision Connect service.

  • Totally encrypted and secure system access.

SRO Cloud Design

The SRO Cloud has been setup using enterprise grade equipment with the focus upon uptime, performance and scalability. Each client has their own zone within SRO and is operates securely without any impact from our other SRO clients.

The SRO servers are all high-end HP servers, communicating with a HP Enterprise SAN. The servers run VMware's vSphere enterprise suite of products with inbuilt high-availability, fault tolerance, load balancing and easy scalability. Our system can survive with a more than a 30% loss of hardware before any performance impacts are felt by end-users.

SRO Network Access

The SRO Network is accessed via the internet using SSL encryption technology or via a dedicated Precision Connect service. We highly recommend the use of business-grade fixed services, but SRO is usable on residential ADSL and 3G wireless services.

How Staff Use SRO

The SRO system uses Microsoft Terminal Services technology to deliver an entire graphic user interface (GUI) remotely across an existing internet or data connection. Your keyboard and mouse clicks will be sent into our SRO Cloud and all data and processing will be done on our server farm and the view of our screen will be sent back to you.

Basically, from the way you see it you will barely notice any different between how you use your computer now! All of your existing applications and data can be migrated into the SRO system. Below is a basic screen capture of what you will see.

Software Licensing

As part of the SRO monthly subscription fee all Microsoft software licensing is included for your staff. Depending upon which software packages you select, will depending upon which you have access to.

You dont need to worry about any legal ramifications because Precision IT has an agreement with Microsoft which simplfies the entire licensing process. As an added bonus, as new software packages enter the market, the SRO system will be automatically upgraded to the newest version at zero cost - assuming you agree!

Your equipment onsite

Normally most organisations will have some existing equipment onsite. Some equipment like firewalls, switches and desktop PCs will be reused to gain access to the SRO system. Equipment like servers will become redundant and can be sold or retasked.

Once a desktop PC in configured to use the SRO system, future upgrades on the PC are no longer required. All processing work is done on the SRO Cloud and therefore no longer rely on the individual PC's performance to cope with the workload.
