The Local Government and Shires Association of NSW (LGSA) are the not-for-profit association for all of the Local Governments throughout New South Wales, Australia. The LGSA has approximately 60 staff in their Sydney CBD offices.
Precision IT’s Solution for Local Government and Shires Association of NSW
Since the LGSA have come on board with Precision IT we have been upgrading their dilapidated IT environment from systems implemented in 2004 using Windows XP and Server 2003 to Windows 7, Office 2010 and Server 2008. The LGSA IT system runs premium HP server and storage equipment and VMware virtualisation technology in their internal data-centre.
The implementation of Windows 7 has been achieved by Precision IT by moving LGSA staff from a traditional desktop computer environment into Citrix XenDesktop 5.6, delivering desktop virtualisation throughout the enterprise. The use of Citrix XenDesktop has made the transition from a Windows XP environment seamless by providing a parallel upgrade and migration path. Staff were automatically migrated to XenDesktop and Windows 7, but could change back to their Windows XP desktops in seconds to compare any settings or applications. This allowed for a structured and timely cutover for LGSA staff without the need of downtime or loss of access to certain applications.
Precision Vault – Backup and Disaster Recovery
The backup and DR strategy for the LGSA has taken advantage of our Precision Vault service. LGSA system backs up to the Precision Cloud where all systems and data could be restored and recovered in the unlikely event of a disaster in the LGSA offices. We can recover their entire environment within 24hours into the Cloud if a disaster strikes.
